Booking Group Corporation was founded on 9 May 2008 in Riga, Latvia by Alen Baibekov and Igor Demchakov — both former car rental industry professionals. What began as a small booking service for Russian travellers heading to Southern Europe has grown into one of the world’s leading online car rental booking platforms.
Today, EconomyBookings.com — Booking Group’s flagship product — serves travellers in 180+ countries through partnerships with 600+ rental suppliers, including Enterprise, Hertz, Europcar, Avis, and Sixt. The platform processes nearly 1 million bookings annually and has been ranked in the Top 20 largest car rental booking companies globally by Similarweb.
Founded in 2008 with a three-car fleet, Booking Group reached its first milestone of 100 bookings per day in 2010. By 2011, EconomyBookings had signed contracts with 450+ car rental companies worldwide. The company expanded into North America in 2012, partnered with Kayak and Skyscanner in 2013, and launched its mobile app in 2014.
In 2022, annual turnover exceeded €100 million — a record — and the company achieved 3,000 bookings per day. In 2025, Booking Group launched the EconomyBookings Marketplace for local rental operators, and established Renasco Insurance Tech in partnership with BALTA. The company employs 100+ professionals and is headquartered at Meistaru Street 1, Valdlauci, Riga, Latvia.
